"I have no food, no electricity, and my water is shut off. Can you help me?" - a client in need to a Care To Share intake worker. In the last five years, Oregon was one of the "top 10" hungriest states in the nation. Care To Share coordinates with 23 churches and the Oregon Food Bank to address hunger and emergency food distribution issues. The Oregon Food Bank's motto, "because no one should be hungry" is a position we also take at Care To Share. "Helping our neighbors in need" takes our mission one step further to assisting individuals in crisis. Grants and contributions frοm Beaverton, Aloha, and Northwest Portland Churches, Oregon Heat, Tualatin Valley Water District, and the City of Beaverton Water help us assist with utility emergencies. Care To Share has been the emergency contact for 25 years for those who lack sufficient income to pay for their basic needs. High unemployment, the high cost of rent and utilities, and our limited funds prevent us frοm assisting all crisis situtations in our community. For these individuals we offer information and referrals to additional resources. |
Resolving a crisis situation requires patience, guidance, and support. You can support basic emergency needs in our community by:
