In the decade between 1990 and 2000, the number of children living in poverty in Washington County increased 276%. When families don’t have incomes sufficient to pay for the basic necessities of life, children suffer. Fortunately, help is standing by. Community Action connects low-income families with tools, information and resources to achieve greater economic opportunity. Our programs build resilience and help children enter school ready to learn. In order to serve generations to come, Community Action must plan for future growth, as well as current opportunities.
